A pallet grill station can cost next to nothing if you have pallets on hand, or climb past a thousand dollars once you add a sink, a roof and the fittings that make it last.
The builds below split between wheeled carts you can roll to cover and fixed stations with roofs or pergolas overhead; what you pick depends on whether you need portability or a permanent cooking spot.
A few builds below add a countertop with a food-safe finish, and one rolls on rubber wheels that won’t flat-spot; the materials section covers how to check old lumber before cutting.
[link-whisper-related-posts]1. Pallet Grill Station with Countertop

A pallet grill station with countertop gives you prep space right where the fire is. I would check that the pallets are heat-treated, marked "HT," not chemically treated, before any cutting or sanding.
The countertop needs clearance from the grill surface; I would allow plenty of room between hot metal and wood that sees grease. Seal the counter with a food-safe finish if you will set plates there.
DIMENSIONS: Exterior: 52. 7 in. W x 20. 5 in. D x 35. 5 in. H / Interior: 40. 9 in. W x 16. 3 in. D x 18. 5 in. H

2. Rolling Barbecue Cart

Wheels change everything for small patios or renters who might need to roll the whole setup against a fence before a storm.
A store-bought kettle grill drops in easier than a custom fire basin if you do not have welding access or a friend who does.
Two locking casters and two fixed keep it from drifting while you flip burgers. I would spend extra for rubber wheels that do not flat-spot on concrete.
[Rotate 360 degrees] Smooth & Silent & Sturdy. The total locking brake locks both the wheel and the swivel.
Heavy duty casters: Casters are made of high-strength industrial grade galvanized steel, precision ball bearings and high-quality polyurethane to ensure durability, while the wear-resistant, noise-reducing steel balls ensure smooth rolling.
Easy to install: Screw swivel casters, caster wheels with brake, set with nuts and wrenches, the upper wave plate is an octagonal wave disc, easy to install. Stem Casters, Casters with No Noise Set of 4 Caster.
3. Pallet BBQ Table

This is the version for people who cook for a crowd and need surface more than shelter. Drawers and lower shelves hold charcoal, tools, and the bottles that usually clutter a folding table.
I would build the carcass from 2 or 3 pallets broken down to stringers and deck boards, then face the rough edges with one clean board ripped to width.
The charcoal bag visible says "Briketts," so this builder grills with briquettes; lump charcoal burns hotter and fits the same chimney starter if you prefer. Add a galvanized sheet below the grill bed so embers do not find the wood.

4. Compact Corner Grill Station with Shelves

An L-shape tucked into a corner buys back floor space on a small patio.
The roof is corrugated metal pitched to shed rain, strung with lights underneath; I would run the roof slope away from the house wall it sits against.
The shelves hold bottles and small potted herbs, which means they see water and soil, so I would use slatted boards rather than solid ones that pool moisture.
A gas grill sits built in, so plan the opening before you build the frame; measure your grill twice, leave a small air gap, and build to that.
ROBUST GALVANIZED FRAME: Built with a heavy-duty rust-resistant galvanized steel structure engineered to support 30-35 kg/m² snow loads and withstand up to Grade 6 winds, ensuring year-round outdoor reliability.
SPACIOUS 10x10 VEHICLE FOOTPRINT: Measuring approx. 119.06" L x 115.20" W x 99.45" H, this large lean-to structure provides ample protected space for compact cars, motorcycles, or spacious patio dining and grill setups.
5. Pallet Outdoor Kitchen with Sink

A sink in an outdoor kitchen sounds like luxury until you have carried greasy platters back inside for the fiftieth time.
The grey paint on this one is exterior latex, which I would top with a marine varnish on the countertop since water stands there.
The faucet needs a hose connection or a buried line; in most climates that line must slope to a drain valve below frost depth, or you blow it out each fall like a sprinkler system.
The back wall rack for spices and paper towels keeps the counter clear, which matters more than it looks like it would.
I would skip the sink if my patio has no hose bib nearby; a bucket and a bench is less to maintain.
High quality materials:Made from high-quality plastic, these wheels offer exceptional durability and reliability. Their heat-resistant and wear-resistant properties make them a long-lasting solution for your grilling setup.
EASY INSTALLATION - Set of 4 swivel stem casters, come with 1-3/8 inch length x 7/16 inch diameter grip ring stem, 19/32" OD plastic sockets for quick and secure installation.
All‑Terrain Pneumatic Tires: Equipped with 10‑inch pneumatic tires, this cart ensures superior traction and stability across grass, dirt, or gravel. The sturdy design maintains balance while significantly reducing the effort required for transport.
6. Pallet Grill Station with Corrugated Roof

The corrugated roof here is the main event, not an afterthought, and it turns a grill station into something you use in light rain.
The pitch looks shallow; I would go steeper where leaves collect, or the center sags before long.
The shelves hold jars and condiments, so they need a lip or a rail; a small board screwed across the front keeps a knocked bottle from hitting your toe.
Gas grill, charcoal tools, and food prep all share the same footprint, which works only if you clean as you cook. I would size the roof wider than the station on the grill side; smoke rises, but embers float sideways.
Versatile & Practical: Compatible with two different gas griddle models (Models: PD1300 & PD1303S), the stand effortlessly adapts to diverse outdoor grilling scenarios,...
7. Pergola-Covered Pallet Grill Station

A pergola roof over a pallet station gives you shade without walls, and the open slats still let smoke drift up and away.
String lights hung across the beams turn evening cooking into something you actually want to linger at; I would use outdoor-rated LED strings and staple the cord to the top of the beam, not the bottom where grease splatter reaches.
A pallet grill station under a small pergola gives you shade while you cook and a defined spot that feels like an outdoor kitchen without the outdoor kitchen price.
I like that the overhead structure also gives you somewhere to hang tools or string lights.
I would check that the pergola posts sit on concrete pavers or piers, not soil that heaves in winter; a 4×4 post rots faster than the pallet station it carries.
The utensil hooks keep tools off the counter, but they also drip marinade onto your head if the grill sits directly below; offset the cooking surface a few inches, or hang the hooks on the side beam instead.
Gas grill built in, side counters for plating, pergola overhead: this one wants a flat patio slab or deck, not grass you level each spring.
I would stain the wood rather than paint it; peeling paint on a pergola is visible from the house and a misery to scrape.
Heavy Duty Casters - Premium Materials and Greater Durability: Precision ball double bearings for smooth swiveling and rolling. 3″caster wheels are made from solid polyurethane with strong weight capacity. Each caster can carry 250Lbs.
The wheels made of the popular Non-Marking polyurethane rubber type, absorbs shock and vibrations. Ball bearing and dual locking bring a max loading capacity and safety
HEAVY DUTY & REINFORCED CONSTRUCTION: Upgraded with thickened solid steel plates, stronger screws, and high-quality bearings, featuring three mounting holes on both the top and bottom plates for a more secure fit. This retractable caster wheel set of 4 heavy duty supports a total weight capacity of 660 lbs, providing a stable foundation to instantly turn your stationary workbench, woodworking table, or machinery stand into a mobile unit
Materials for Building
Old lumber from a tear-down works if it is dry and free of rot, but nail holes and old fasteners mean more time at the sander.
I would pull every fastener I can find, then run a metal detector over the boards before cutting; a carbide blade hitting a hidden nail costs more than the wood saved.
Cinder blocks need no cutting and no finish, which is their whole appeal.
They also weigh enough that you will not move the station once it is built, so I would lay out the footprint with chalk first and walk around it with the grill cart to check clearance.
The cores fill with soil or gravel if you want mass; leave them open if you need to thread rebar through for a stacked wall.
A grill station built from any of these will outlast one summer only if the feet stay dry.
I would set pallets on pavers or concrete, not directly on soil, and I would slope the ground underneath so water does not pool where the wood meets the ground.
